The all-new, midsize, front-drive sedan, along with its Mercury and Lincoln stable mates, is the first Ford Motor Co. car developed entirely in a digital environment. It is also the first model built on the company's CD3 architecture from which 10 North American vehicles, accounting for a large portion of Ford Motor Co.’s annual production, eventually will be derived. The 4-door, 5-passenger sedan, whose design is derived from the Ford 427 concept car, rides on a 107.4-in. (2,728-mm) wheelbase with an overall length of 190.2 ins. (4,831 mm). A 160-hp, 2.3L 4-cyl. engine is standard in the S and SE. A 210-hp, 3L V-6 is standard in the SEL and optional in the SE. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard with the 4-cyl. engine and a 5-speed automatic transmission is optional. The V-6 is available only with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
