Replacing the M45, discontinued at the end of the '04 model run, the all-new luxury sedan lineup includes five variants in two series. The M35 consists of three models, all with a 280-hp, 3.5L V-6 and 5-speed automatic transmission: Luxury, Sport (featuring rear-drive and rear-wheel steering) and all-wheel-drive “x.” The M45, powered by a 335-hp, 4.5L V-8 and 5-speed automatic transmission, comes in Luxury and Sport trim levels. Sport models in both series have adaptive headlamps that follow the path of the front wheels, climate-controlled front seats and brushed-aluminum interior trim. All M-series variants have leather seats, “intelligent” key with push button ignition, voice-recognition controls, Bluetooth communications interface, stability control, 10-way power driver's seat and power sunroof. A new lane-departure warning system, that alerts the driver if the car drifts from its traffic lane, and pre-crash front seatbelts that tighten automatically under emergency braking, are optional.
