What’s New for ’08

  • New to the lineup is the Clubman wagon that rides on a 100.3-in. (2,548-mm) wheelbase that is 3.2 ins. (81 mm) longer than that of the coupe and provides additional cargo space with an overall length of 155.8 ins. (3,957 mm) vs. the coupe 145.6 ins. 3,698 mm).
  • It is available in Cooper and Cooper S trim, the latter with the a 1.6L turbocharged I-4 engine rated at 172 hp, the same as in the Cooper S coupe, and provides two conventional front doors and one side access door on the right side of the vehicle for easier passenger entry into the rear seat. In place of a rear hatch, are two vertical doors, each running from roof to floor level.
  • However, for a second consecutive year, the convertible, in both Cooper and Cooper S trim, continues to be built on the prior-generation platform and still is powered by Brazil-built naturally aspirated and supercharged 1.6L engines rather than the British-built engines used in the coupe and Clubman.
