What’s New for ’11

  • Two engines are available, a 1.4L turbocharged or a 1.8L naturally aspirated 4-cyl., mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
  • The 1.4L features a liquid-cooled turbocharger that is integrated directly into the exhaust manifold vs. the traditional downstream location, which reduces complexity and weight. When mated to the 6-speed manual transmission, it is expected to deliver 40 MPG (5.9l/100km), according to GM. Both engines feature an easier-to-replace cartridge type oil filter.
  • The 6-speed manual features a wide range of gear ratios, including a tall top gear for improved fuel economy at highway speeds. The 6-speed automatic features Active Select, which allows sequential manual shifting. It also automatically shifts into neutral when idling, which improves both fuel economy and noise, vibration and harshness characteristics.
  • Safety equipment includes standard stability control, collapsible pedals, 3-point seat belts with pretensioners for all seating positions and a total of 10 airbags, including dual-stage front, curtain-side, side-impact and front knee airbags, the most in the segment, according to Chevrolet.
